The article is devoted to the analysis of problems in bringing to criminal responsibility for causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust. It provides a general description of the composition of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, qualifying features, and an attempt to analyze the problems of qualification in law enforcement practice. The article examines the specifics of a crime involving criminal liability for causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust, conducts a systematic analysis of current legislation, and determines the legal nature of an act involving criminal liability for causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust.
