The article discusses the features of the use of coercive measures by law enforcement officers, such as forceful detention. It analyzes the tactical and psychological aspects, as well as the conditions under which this coercive measure is used by policeofficers. The article highlights the situations that arise in the course of police officers' work, where they are required to attempt to detain a person who has violated the law. Attention is drawn to the high frequency of such situations in a police officer's official activities, and accordingly, the tactical and psychological components of training students of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the use of forceful detention are specified, as one of the most frequently implemented measures of coercive influence on offenders by police officers in their practical activities.
