Abstract:
To understand the essence of modern extremism and its signs, the genesis and evolution of this concept as it appeared, and descriptions in philosophical thought and written sources of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece are retrospectively analyzed. The stages of extremism formation are highlighted: stage I, covering the period from 44 BC to 1054 AD, in which "socio-economic" extremism is formed; stage II - from 1054 to 1789, characterized by the formation of "religious extremism".
